Team Tracy: Bonneville Stories

by Lou Fisher, May 17, 2011

Being the fourth generation of her family to be involved with motorcycles, Tracy grew up on the back of her dad's bike traveling back roads from Canada to Baja, Mexico. Her beloved Oakland Motorcycle Club has enthusiastically supported her adventures, too. But even a strong and capable team cannot prepare for everything at the Flats. Problems arose to test Tracy and her team in 2010. But with the help, ingenuity, and kindness of her team and other racers, Tracy got her best speed of 196.244 mph. Team Tracy was the honored recipient of the Team Spirit award presented by the Buell Brothers and Sisters. So if you're riding out west and see the big orange trailer housing Tracy's Hayabusa, take note of the slogan on the side "Never accept limits, go beyond them." It perfectly captures both Team Tracy's spirit and the spirit of the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials event. See you there!

OMC History from 1977

Here is a letter, written May 27, 1977, that outlines much of the early history of the OMC.

The world famous Stelvio Pass in the Italian Alps on a rented Honda Africa Twin w/ DCT (Auto) transmission. Medium fast - mostly safe? - pace... In "manual" mode, shifting only with the left-hand paddles. I believe this was a serious advantage, as no clutchwork was required. 48 switchbacks on the front side, 36 on the back side. The first video is 9 minutes of pure motorcycling bliss, with minor commentary. I finally was able to do this pass, and 4 of us did it twice (almost inadvertently) on the same day: Dave Foyle, our "+1" and three OMCers; Brent & Tracy Snyder and myself. Bill Anderson met us later on this trip.
